Kulgam Police Conducts Inspection of SIM Vendors to Prevent Misuse

Kulgam, Oct 8: In a bid to strengthen internal security and curb misuse of mobile communication services, Kulgam Police on Wednesday carried out special inspections of SIM card vendors across the district.

Police teams conducted surprise checks at various locations to ensure strict adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and prevent unauthorized activation of SIM cards.

During the inspection, officers interacted with vendors and stressed the importance of proper verification of customer documents. Vendors were instructed to strictly follow all KYC and documentation guidelines to prevent misuse of mobile connections for unlawful activities.

SSP Kulgam, Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS), said, “Ensuring strict adherence to KYC norms is vital for preventing the misuse of mobile networks. Vendors are the first line of defense in safeguarding communication systems.”

The inspection drive is part of Kulgam Police’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and ensure responsible telecom operations across the district.
