Qazigund, Feb 24 – In a bid to tighten enforcement against traffic violations, the Traffic Police conducted a special drive in Qazigund today, penalizing numerous offenders for disregarding road safety norms.

During the operation, a man was fined Rs 5000 for using a mobile phone while driving, as authorities reinforced strict measures against distracted driving. The enforcement drive, led by DTI Tariq Ahmad under the supervision of DySP Traffic Qazigund-Kulgam Mohd Aslam Choudhary, targeted violations such as riding without helmets and triple riding on two-wheelers.

Several bikes and scooters were seized for non-compliance with traffic regulations, and officials reiterated the importance of following road safety rules. “Wearing helmets and avoiding triple riding is crucial for the safety of two-wheeler riders. Violators will face strict action,” authorities stated.

Additionally, stringent measures are being taken against minors found driving bikes or four-wheelers without a valid license. The Traffic Department has urged parents and school authorities to educate young students on the risks associated with underage and unlicensed driving.

The crackdown comes as part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and minimize accidents in the region. Officials have warned that similar drives will continue in the coming days to ensure stricter compliance with traffic laws.
