Kulgam, March 5: In a bid to prevent profiteering and black marketing during the holy month of Ramadan, the District Administration Kulgam on Wednesday intensified market inspections across the town. The special checking teams ensured the availability of essential commodities at government-approved rates while cracking down on unfair trade practices.

The drive, conducted under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, aimed to curb hoarding and ensure fair pricing in local markets.

Inspection teams, comprising officials from Revenue, Police, Food Safety, Municipal Council Kulgam (MCK), FCS&CA, Animal Husbandry, and Legal Metrology Departments, conducted extensive checks under the supervision of Tehsildar Kulgam Bilal Ahmad, along with Naib Tehsildar Nasir Ahmad Mantoo, Food Inspector Inderjeet Singh, TSO Hilal Ahmad, and Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Arif.

Officials stressed the importance of adhering to fair pricing and maintaining quality standards, ensuring that consumers are not exploited during the holy month. The district administration has issued a stern warning against unethical business practices, assuring strict action against violators.

Authorities have also urged the public to report any instances of overpricing or substandard goods to the concerned departments for immediate redressal.
