Kulgam, March 18: The National Conference (NC) on Tuesday observed the 31st death anniversary of its prominent leader, Late Wali Mohammad Itoo, in the DH Pora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Party leaders and supporters gathered to pay tribute to the late leader, recognizing his significant role in strengthening the party across Jammu and Kashmir.
Late Itoo, a highly respected figure in the region, was the father of Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, who was tragically assassinated in Jammu on March 18, 1994.
While offering tributes to the veteran leader, NC leaders recalled his supreme sacrifice in defending the core values of democracy, human dignity, and the public cause. They emphasized that his legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
Several senior leaders participated in the commemoration, including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, Provincial President Shoket Hussain Mir, Party Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, and other prominent figures, all of whom paid their respects to the departed soul.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary expressed admiration for the nomadic community of Qazigund and reiterated the party's commitment to justice. He also called on the Home Department to carry out a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the recent Qazigund incident, ensuring that such tragic events do not occur again.
