Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to people across the nation on the occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on Wednesday, 5 November 2025. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the revered founder of Sikhism, highlighting the enduring relevance of his message to humanity.
In a post shared on X, Shri Modi wrote, “The life and message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji continue to guide humanity with timeless wisdom. His teachings of compassion, equality, humility and service are very inspiring. Greetings on his Parkash Purab. May his divine light keep illuminating our planet forever.”
The Prime Minister also shared his message in Punjabi, expressing deep respect for Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings and their universal appeal. He emphasised that the Guru’s vision of compassion and equality continues to serve as a guiding light for people around the world.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji, born in 1469, is regarded as the first Sikh Guru and a spiritual teacher who preached harmony, truth and selfless service. His birth anniversary, known as Guru Nanak Jayanti or Parkash Purab, is celebrated with great devotion by the Sikh community and millions of followers globally. The day is marked by prayers, processions, and the recitation of Guru Granth Sahib across gurdwaras in India and abroad.
Shri Modi noted that Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s timeless message holds special significance in today’s world, reminding all of the values of humility and inclusivity. The Prime Minister’s greetings reflected a spirit of unity and reverence, as the nation observed one of the most sacred days in the Sikh calendar.
Celebrations were held across various parts of India, with devotees offering prayers and participating in community service, following the Guru’s principle of seva, or selfless service.
