Trishala, a US-based psychotherapist, highlighted how silence can either be a healthy coping mechanism or a harmful tool of emotional manipulation.

She further explained that prolonged silent treatment can erode a person’s self-confidence and sense of security. According to her, relationships are meant to be spaces where issues are discussed and resolved, not places where silence is weaponised to assert control.
