Jammu: A short-lived gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Lasana village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials reported on Tuesday.
The exchange of fire took place on Monday night after security personnel initiated a combing operation based on intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of armed militants in the area.
"Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping," the Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps stated on X.
One Army jawan sustained injuries during the encounter and was promptly evacuated to a medical facility, officials added. Search efforts are still underway to locate and neutralize the remaining threat.
