Water supply will be suspended for 30 hours in Srinagar on February 22 as the authorities carry out important repair and maintenance work on the city's water supply system. The Public Health Engineering Department said the improved service, modernization of the pipeline network, will also cause a 30-hour disruption in water supply due to various requirements.
Water supply will be stopped from 6 am. These areas include Lal Chowk, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Bemina, Batamalu, Rainawari and other areas.
The PHE department has requested the public to conserve water as much as possible in advance, so that they are not inconvenienced during the repair work.
The objective is to repair leakages, replace old pipelines and improve water pressure across the city. The authorities have assured that after these repairs, water distribution will be significantly improved and the difficulties faced in future will be avoided.
Meanwhile, residents have been requested by the SMC to use water judiciously. Tankers will be made available in some parts of the city for emergency supplies and helpline numbers will be provided for those in dire straits.
These temporary interruptions are part of a larger effort to modernize Srinagar's water supply system, ensuring uninterrupted service into the future.
Authorities have sought public cooperation in this regard and assured that short-term inconvenience points to long-term benefits.
