Kulgam, July 14:
In a significant step towards promoting self-employment and youth empowerment, the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) Kulgam, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), today approved 106 fresh self-employment cases under the flagship Mission YUVA scheme.
The meeting, held at the DC Office Complex, saw detailed deliberations on the proposals, which had been thoroughly vetted by the Small Business Development Unit (SBDU). Each application underwent a rigorous feasibility and verification process before being placed for final approval.
The newly sanctioned proposals cover a broad range of sectors including agriculture and allied activities, retail, services, small-scale manufacturing, and other skill-driven enterprises — highlighting the district’s growing entrepreneurial culture among its youth.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Athar Aamir Khan appreciated the coordinated efforts of the SBDU, Business Hub Districts (BHDs), and field officials in guiding aspiring entrepreneurs. “Mission YUVA is not just a scheme, but a transformative movement to equip young individuals with sustainable livelihood avenues and economic self-sufficiency,” he said.
The DC also directed departments to ensure timely release of financial assistance and emphasized the need for post-sanction mentoring and monitoring to ensure the viability and success of the units. To maintain pace and transparency in execution, he stressed adherence to the structured review framework — with BHD reviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays, SBDU evaluations every Friday, and DLIC meetings every Saturday.
The meeting was attended by GM DIC, DSWO, AD Employment, Lead Bank Manager, DDM NABARD, DNO JKEDI, CCO and EO DE&CC Kulgam. Officials shared their inputs on enhancing inter-departmental coordination and extending prompt support to the beneficiaries.
The approval of these 106 cases under Mission YUVA marks another milestone in the district’s ongoing mission to nurture local talent and entrepreneurship.
