Gusty Winds Damage Power Infrastructure, Affect Power Supply in Kulgam; Dozens of Houses Damaged

 Kulgam, March 28, 2025 – Strong gusty winds late Thursday evening caused significant damage to power transmission lines across Kulgam district, leading to widespread power outages. The Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) confirmed that their teams were working to restore electricity in the affected areas.

A senior KPDCL official in Kulgam stated that several LT/HT lines had been damaged in multiple areas and that repair teams were actively working to restore the power supply as quickly as possible. “We are making every effort to repair the lines in the shortest time possible,” the official added.

In addition to power disruptions, the winds also caused damage to residential houses, with several trees uprooted and falling on homes. Crops and apple orchards in the district also sustained damage. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries have been reported as of yet.
