J-K Gears Up with Tight Security for PM modi And Major Rail Link launch

Dilip Kumar, Information and Publicity (ED/IP) Executive Director at the Railway Board, stated that the 272-kilometre track, including a 119-kilometre tunnel, is a significant development for the connectivity of the region.

He also added, "It has been the desire of every Indian to have a train moving to Kashmir. We have prepared for this long, and now this USBRL section is ready."

"There's a 119-kilometre tunnel in this 272-kilometre stretch. This whole stretch is of utmost importance for Kashmir's religious, tourism, and connectivity requirements," he added.

He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission the USBRL project on April 19.

"The Prime Minister is going to dedicate the whole project to the nation, this will go a long way in benefiting the people of the country. Based on the planning so far, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate this project to the nation on April 19," Dilip Kumar stated.

He also noted that on its opening day, two Vande Bharat Express trains will start operations, with one connecting Srinagar and the other Katra to Srinagar.

"On the opening day of the project, we have decided to operate two Vande Bharat Express trains. One Vande Bharat Express train will be operated from Srinagar and another from Katra to Srinagar," the Railway Board Executive Director announced.

On 23rd January, the trial run of the inaugural Vande Bharat train from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station to the Srinagar railway station has been performed by Indian Railways. The train will travel over Anji Khad Bridge, India's first cable-stayed rail bridge, and Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge.

The train has been engineered according to the cold climate conditions of the Kashmir valley.
