Kulgam Police Arrests Drug Peddler, Recovers Contraband

Kulgam, February 24: In a continued effort to curb the menace of drugs, Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police team from Police Station Qazigund, during a checkpoint at Upper Bazar Qazigund, apprehended the accused identified as Mudasir Ahmad Itoo, son-in-law of Manzoor Ahmad Itoo, a resident of Kurigam.

During the search, 2 kgs of poppy straw and 6 grams of brown sugar-like substance were recovered from him. Following this, a case (FIR No. 26/2025 U/S 8/15, 21 NDPS Act) was registered at Police Station Qazigund, and an investigation has been initiated.

The police have urged citizens to report drug peddling or any criminal activity by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. Authorities reassured the public of their firm commitment to taking strict action against those involved in such illegal activities.
