Hima Kaul Kalanidhi commemorated the 35th anniversary of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus with a theatrical performance based on the acclaimed short story 19 January Ke Baad by Kshama Kaul.

The story recounts the harrowing ordeal of Ramesh Marhatta, a news broadcaster abducted by terrorists in 1990. Subjected to extreme torture, Marhatta's resilience and eventual escape shed light on the valley’s troubled eco-system during the early 1990s.

The performance, directed by actor Bhasha Sumbli, featured Sunil Soni, Soham Kashyap, and Nazuk Bhagat in key roles. The highlight of the evening was the felicitation of Ramesh Marhatta by author Kshama Kaul, receiving a standing ovation from an audience of eminent writers, artists, and intellectuals.

Anchored by Sahil Bazaz with music by Sahoul Dutt, the event paid tribute to a survivor’s courage and resilience.
