As part of an ongoing investigation into criminal-gangster terror syndicates, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday summoned famed Punjabi playback singer Afsana Khan, a close friend of the late singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

Khan has produced several top-charting songs, including Titliyan with Sargun Mehta and Hardy Sandhu. She also took part in Season 15 of Big Boss. She had also performed Moose Wala's final song, Jaandi Vaar, with him. It was originally scheduled for release in September but was delayed at the request of the court.

Khan was scheduled to be questioned about her connections to the Bambiha gang, a fierce adversary of the Bishnoi group, according to agency sources.

Afsana Khan was subsequently called by the NIA and interviewed by the organisation on Monday at their Delhi headquarters for almost five hours. According to allegations in the media, Khan was questioned on Tuesday over her affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's fiercest competitor, the Bambiha gang. It is important to note that Sidhu Moosewala's murder was committed by the Bishnoi gang.

The NIA launched searches across many states on October 18 in an effort to break up the growing link between terrorists, criminals, and drug smugglers with bases both in India and overseas. The various NIA teams worked in tandem with state police forces to execute the raids concurrently at more than 50 sites in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Lucknow, and Delhi-NCR.
