Bengali TV actress Pallavi Dey found dead at her flat, police say “it seems to be a case of suicide”

The Bengali television industry was struck with grief when Bengali actress Pallavi Dey’s body was found lifeless at her flat in the Garfa area of Kolkata on Sunday morning.

The body of the late actress was found hanging from the ceiling fan and was soon rushed to Bangur hospital where she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The police after an investigation said, “it seems to be a case of suicide”. Her body has been sent for the post-mortem.

The police have initiated an investigation by filing a case of unnatural death.

Pallavi’s live-in partner Sagnik Chakraborty is also being questioned in connection to the case. However, his parents claim that their son has nothing to do with her hanging and emphasized that the couple were living happily and didn’t have any major issues.

“They used to live together. Although we were not in complete support, we allowed them since they are grown-ups. A few times I had asked Sagnik to stay elsewhere and start living together once they are married. They didn’t have any major issues. I don’t know what happened.” Said Sagnik’s mother.

Pallavi had successfully created her niche in the Bengali TV industry. She was known for playing the lead role of Gauri in ‘Mon Mane Naa. She was also seen in several other shows including Ami Sirajer Begum, Saraswati Prem, and Resham Japi.
