COLLEGE IN MANGALURU BANS BURQA-WEARING PUPILS FROM DANCING

Mangaluru, Dec. 9: After several students were expelled from Joseph's Engineering College for dancing in burqas, Mangaluru has added its name to the list of yet another scandal.

After a video of the students dancing on a stage to the Hindi song "Teri picture ko seene se yaar" went popular on social media, the college administration punished the pupils.The college administration has since released a statement on the subject.

They said: "The video clip being circulated on social media has captured a part of the dance by students of the Muslim community itself who barged on stage during the informal part of students association inaugural."

It was not part of the approved programme, and the students involved were suspended awaiting an investigation. "The college does not encourage or condone any activity that may jeopardise community cohesion or the well-being of everybody," it declared.
