Congress looking forward to Mamata Banerjee's Opposition Meet

As per the sources, Senior leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, and Randeep Singh Surjewala will represent the Congress at the meeting. It was on Saturday when Bengal CM Banerjee wrote to the opposition leaders and requested them to attend the meeting

After receiving an invitation, The Congress is set to meet a meeting called by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Delhi on Wednesday. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the strategy for the Presidential polls slated for next month.


As per the sources, Senior leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, and Randeep Singh Surjewala will represent the Congress at the meeting. It was on Saturday when Bengal CM Banerjee wrote to the opposition leaders and requested them to attend the meeting.


“Our hon'ble chairperson Mamata Banerjee calls upon all progressive opposition forces to meet and deliberate on the future course of action keeping the Presidential elections in sight; at the Constitution Club, New Delhi on the 15th of June 2022 at 3 PM, “ All India Trinamool Congress had tweeted.


President Ram Nath Kovind's presidential tenure will end on July 24 and e elections for the next president will be held on July 18.


The polls are based on an electoral college comprising votes of MLAs and MPs. The vote value of each MLA depends on the population of the state and the number of assembly seats. The total strength of the electoral college, thus, is 10,86,431. A candidate with more than 50 percent votes wins. The NDA is 13,000 votes short.


Before Mamata Banerjee, kicked off her initiative for opposition unity for the presidential polls, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had reportedly tasked Mr. Kharge to flag off the initiative for opposition unity for presidential polls.
