The Special Cell of Delhi police has challenged the bail granted to Ishrat Jahan by lower court in connection with conspiracy case of Delhi riots. The bail was granted to the ex-Congress councillor around three months, but the Delhi police have now moved to Delhi High Court saying the trail court had ignored the witnesses affirmed her role not in conspiracy only but in terror funding also.

Ishrat secured bail from the lower court on March 14 after observing that “she was neither physically present in Northeast Delhi for riots nor was she part of any group”.

Now Delhi Police has appealed against the bail order on Thursday alleging, “Hon’ble trial court has also ignored the subsequent conduct of the accused Ishrat Jahan, wherein she tried to cover up the tracks of terror financing.”

Police also underlined that the trail court failed to observe Ishrat’s “attempt to commit or advocating the commission or advising it or inciting or directing or knowingly facilitating commission of a terrorist act is punishable”.
