Rajasthan’s Barmer city was submerged in water after receiving heavy rain on Monday. The streets were waterlogged and the heavy rain has led to the loss of contact with many villages.
The deluge in the city has washed away several vehicles and many houses and shops suffered damage due to the water ingress.
The rain started at 5 pm on Monday and continued till 11 pm. The heavy downpour had also affected the power supply in most of the regions of Barmer city as around five hours of the outage was witnessed there.
The Chauhan town and its adjoining areas on the border of the Barmer district have been the most affected area. Due to heavy rains, the water coming from the mountains entered the low-lying settlement areas and water overflowed on Chauhan Road.
Meanwhile, Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Nagaur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Jalore, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, and surrounding areas.
