In the presence of Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal police honour singer KK with a gun salute

At 2.30 p.m., an ambulance arrived at Rabindra Sadan with KK’s body in a wooden casket. During the gun salute at 2.43 p.m., senior ministers stood beside KK’s wife and children.

A green tunnel will be used to transport the singer’s body to the airport. Around 5 p.m., his family would depart for Mumbai.

Banerjee, who flew in from Andal Airport in Paschim Bardhaman, arrived at Rabindra Sadan around 1.30 p.m. to oversee the arrangements while the post-mortem was being performed at SSKM Hospital, which was only 200 metres away.

Staff members at the Nazrul Manch, where the event was held, stated the crowd was overflowing, with some going over the fence and breaking the law.

“KK’s show was at 7 pm. He was sweating and took water in between. He left only after completing the programme. Our seat capacity was 2,482 but the crowd was more than double the capacity. The crowd broke the gate. The spray was used outside the auditorium to disperse the crowd. It was done by their (organiser) bouncers. No spray was used inside the auditorium,” Chandan Maity, Nazrul Mancha staff told news agency ANI.

Doctors at the hospital speculated that the death was caused by “cardiac arrest.” Police have opened an investigation into a ‘unnatural death’ case.
