Indian Climber dies while eying to summit Mount Kanchenjunga

Nivesh Karki, an official of the hiking company that organized the expedition, while confirming Iyer’s death, said, "Iyer's guide advised him to turn back after he was feeling unwell but he refused."

An Indian climber, namely Narayanan Iyer, lost his life in an attempt to summit the world’s third-highest mountain, Mount Kanchenjunga, said a hiking official on Saturday, May 7, 2022.



The 52 years old climber had climbed around 8,200 meters above sea level when at the time of his death on Thursday, May 5, 2022. 



Nivesh Karki, an official of the hiking company that organized the expedition, while confirming Iyer’s death, said, "Iyer's guide advised him to turn back after he was feeling unwell but he refused."



Earlier also, a Greek climber and a Nepali Sherpa also fell victim to pernicious mountains. 



In Nepal, mountain climbing is considered a major tourist attraction and provides a pivotal boost to the income and employment of the people of Nepal. In fact, it is the country that houses eight of the world's 14 highest mountains including Mount Everest.



During the current mountaineering season in Nepal, more than 900 foreigners have acquired permission to climb 26 Himalayan peaks in Nepal, including Mount Everest.
