In an e-auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sold IPL media rights for broadcast in the Indian subcontinent for Rs 44,075 crore to two separate broadcasters on Monday, June 13.
The TV rights were auctioned at Rs 23.575 crore whereas digital rights were vended for Rs 20,500 crore. The new deal will give the rights to purchasers for a period of 5 years from 2023 to 2027. Sony and Reliance-Viacom Joint Venture have acquired the TV and digital rights for the Indian subcontinent, respectively.

After inking the deal, IPL became the second most profitable product after America's NFL in terms of media rights. The media rights for each NFL game is estimated to be around Rs 136 crore. Earlier, Amazon had decided to back out from the IPL media rights auction 2022 race.
