On Thursday, S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, praised Hiroshi Suzuki, the ambassador of Japan to India, for marking the 70th anniversary of the two nations' diplomatic ties.
At the Japanese Embassy in India, it was commemorated with Ideathon, Yabusame, and millet sushi.
“Delighted to visit the Embassy of Japan this evening. Commend Amb Suzuki for celebrating the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relationship with the Ideathon, Yabusame and today’s Millet Sushi,” tweeted Jaishankar.
In order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between Japan and India, Japan invited young people from both countries to embark on a 900-kilometer road trip from New Delhi to Varanasi where they would spend nine days brainstorming solutions to social and economic problems.
The 900km venture-based Ideathon "Hack the Innovative Future" began on September 16 and brought together forty youngsters from Japan and India (20 from each nation) as part of the youth exchange programme in New Delhi. The event finished on September 24 in Varanasi, India's temple city.
Several high-level exchanges occurred in the first ten years after diplomatic relations were established, including the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to India in 1957.
A venue for India-Japan cooperation under India's "Act East Policy" and Japan's "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision" is to be provided via the Act East Forum, which was founded in 2017.
The "2+2" meeting, the annual Defense Ministerial Dialogue, and the Coast Guard-to-Coast Guard dialogue are just a few of the frameworks for security and defence discussions between Japan and India.
