Many Cars Damaged, Trees Uprooted After Storm In Delhi

Waterlogging was also a result of the rains in various parts of the capital.  

Cars shook in the fierce winds, according to several images shared on socialmedia.  

According to the Met Department, Delhi received 17.8 mm of rain until 5.30 p.m. 

Following the rains, images of trees being uprooted circulated on social media.  

Vehicles were damaged in a number oflocations after trees fell on them due to severe winds.  

The car of West Delhi BJP MP ParveshSahib Singh Verma was also damaged after branches from a tree fell on it while it was parked at his Windsor Place official residence.  

"A total of 101 complaints regarding uprooted trees and broken branches were received till 7.15 p.m.  

Work is currently underway to remove the places where similar events have occurred.  

Several sectors have already been evacuated, including Bhagwan Das Road, Connaught Place, and SP Marg," according to a senior NDMC officer. 

A piece of metal punctured the windshield of a red Volkswagen automobile, causing damage.  

Images of a car stranded beneath an uprooted tree in Connaught Place also went viral on social media.  

Officials said several trees were uprooted inside the Jamia Millia Islamia, causing damage to the building's walls.

Flags erected by the Delhi government at several locations were also damaged by the strong rains and wind.  

Trees were also uprooted near the Nepal Embassy and the Parliament Street police station on Bhai Vir Singh Marg in Gole Market, causing traffic congestion.  

After trees were uprooted, the Kasturba Gandhi Marg was entirely stopped tovehicular traffic. 

In the capital's South Extension market, poles were seen damaging vehicles, while a Delhi Traffic Police booth at Vijay Chowk collapsed due to strong winds. 

By sharing images of numerous areas where trees had been uprooted, social media users tagged Delhi Traffic Police.  

The Delhi Police also assured residents that their concerns would be addressed.  

The wind was so fierce that an air conditioner on Parliament Street toppled off, causing damage to cars and auto-rickshaws.

During the storm, the historic Jama Masjid's finial was damaged, as well as other damages.  

Traffic snarls were observed near ITO, AIIMS flyover, and DND, making commuters' lives tough.  

Waterlogging has also been reported in numerous parts of the capital. 

"Water logging at Railway Underpass Pul Prahladpur has caused traffic congestion on MB Road (both carriageways). 

In a tweet, the Delhi Traffic Police urged, "Please avoid the stretch."  

"I started from the High Court," Mahesh Kumar, an auto driver stuck in a major traffic jam on the Jai Singh Marg, stated.  

I took numerous alternate routes to reach Jai Singh Marg after observing traffic on Ashoka Road where trees had fallen, but I've been stopped for the past 1.30 hours.  

I noticed traffic jams on every road I took," claimed another commuter, Vinay Yadav, who said they had been stuck on the Jai Singh Marg for more than two hours.
