Massive Landslide in Samroli area of Udhampur, no casualty reported so far

Himat Singh also added that around 100 meters of road have been swept away and the highway clearance will take at least two days

The incessant rainfall in the Jammu and Kashmir has triggered a colossal landslide in the Udhampur district’s Samroli area. The massive landslide has clogged the National Highway 44 and hence has direly affected the transport movement.


As per the reports, a large portion of the road adjacent to Dewal Bridge was also ravaged by the landslide. Dy SP Traffic Udhampur, Himat Singh has informed that so far there have been no reports of casualties due to the landslide.


Himat Singh also added that around 100 meters of road have been swept away and the highway clearance will take at least two days. 


Meanwhile, the MeT department has forecasted that the weather in the UT will improve from today, June 22, afternoon. Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing incessant rainfall since June 18.


On Tuesday, due to continuous showers, the temperature stood at 11 to 16 degrees Celsius across the UT. 


Srinagar registered a maximum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. World-renowned tourist destination Gulmarg logged the lowest temperature of 7.5 degrees Celcius.
