Monsoon 2022: ‘Orange alert’ issued in Mumbai, around 3500 people shifted from flood prone areas of Maharashtra

Newly elected chief minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday reviewed the situation in the state and confirmed that around 3500 people were shifted from flood prone areas to safer places across Maharashtra

As several parts of the country is receiving monsoon rains, Mumbai remains one of the most affected areas as the heavy rains have caused severe waterlogging and hampered traffic movement to large extent. 


In view of incessant rainfall in the city, IMB has issued an ‘orange alert’ in Mumbai for next five days. The weather department has forecasted that the Mumbai and Thane districts will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in coming days.

Meanwhile, Delhi is also facing heavy monsoon downpour. The weather department has predicted that the National capital will also witness heavy rainfall from Wednesday and have issued ‘orange alert’ there.


Along with Delhi and Maharashtra, the weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Goa, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Konkan and some regions of Rajasthan.
