Newly-married couple In Tamil Nadu murdered, 2 including woman’s brother arrested

In a shocking incident, a newly-wed inter-caste couple was murdered in Tamil Nadu’s Kumbakonam on Monday evening, and two suspects including a woman’s brother and a relative have been arrested for the murder of the couple.

As per the police statement, the slain woman was in a relationship with the relative but rather than marrying him decided to marry another person. The brother and the relative were infuriated with her marrying someone else and contrived to kill the couple. The brother of the woman invited her and his husband over to where he and the other relative executed the heinous crime.

Reportedly, the woman was among Scheduled Caste, whereas her husband belonged to Most Backward Caste. 

But after preliminary investigation, the police have opined that the murder is not a case of honor killing.
