In order to improve the district of Banaskantha's water supply, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation for multiple projects totaling more than Rs 8,000 crore.

The Kasara to Dantiwada pipeline from the main Narmada canal, which will cost around Rs 1,560 crore, was among the water delivery projects with foundation stones laid by Prime Minister Modi during his three-day visit to Gujarat. The initiative is anticipated to increase water availability and benefit local farmers.

The Sujlam Suflam Canal will be strengthened, the Modhera-Moti Dau pipeline will be extended to Mukteshwar Dam-Karmavat Lake, and a lift irrigation plan for 11 Santalpur Taluka villages will be implemented, among other projects, on the sidelines of the Tharad programme.

In his remarks to the audience, PM Modi also paid tribute to those who died after the century-old suspension bridge in Morbi, Gujarat, collapsed yesterday. “I am very distressed after the Morbi mishap,” Modi said.

“I was distraught about whether to do the development programs or not. But because of your love and service and the ‘Sanskar’ of performing the duty, brought me here with a strong heart. Banaskantha means the whole of North Gujarat,” PM Modi said in a breaking voice.

PM Modi took part in events relating to Rashtriya Ekta Diwas earlier in the day and paid tribute to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity.

Ekta Diwas in 2022 is significant because "it is the year when we completed 75 years of our Independence and we are moving ahead with new resolutions," the prime minister said. Unity is important at every stage, whether it be in the family, society, or nation, according to the prime minister. 75,000 Ekta Runs, he claimed, had taken place across the nation as a result of this sentiment.

“Entire country is drawing inspiration from the resolute determination of Sardar Patel. Every citizen is taking a pledge for the unity of the country and to evoke ‘Panch Pran'”, he said.

On the occasion of Ekta Diwas, the prime minister said,I would like to reiterate the responsibility handed out by Sardar Saheb." The nation's unity must be strengthened, he said, and this can only be done if each person of the nation is prepared to carry out their responsibilities with a feeling of responsibility.

The Prime Minister declared that with this sense of responsibility, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas will become a reality and India will go on the path of development.

He claimed that all citizens of the nation are receiving government policies without any discrimination. The prime minister gave examples, emphasising how easily free vaccines are made available to people of Surat, Gujarat, as well as Siang, Arunachal Pradesh. There are now medical facilities like AIIMS not just in Gorakhpur but also in Bilaspur, Darbhanga, Guwahati, Rajkot, and other regions of the nation.

He stated that the construction of the defence corridors was continuing apace not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister said that despite the fact that different languages are spoken in various regions of India, government programmes are connecting even the very last person in line.

The Kevadia Morbi accident caused Prime Minister Modi much anguish. He claimed that despite being in Kevadia, his heart still belonged to the people who were hurt in the accident in Morbi. He said, “On one hand, there is a heart laden with grief, while on the other there is the path of Karma and Kartavya.”

He emphasised that the path of responsibility and duty had brought him to the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The Prime Minister expressed his sincere condolences to all those who died in the tragedy of yesterday and gave the families of the victims his full support.

On November 1, Gujarat's prime minister Narendra Modi will travel to Morbi. Notably, 1,000 villages in 6 districts, including Banaskantha, Patan, and Mehsana, will benefit from the projects that Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in Banaskantha's Tharad.
