The cyber-crime branch of the Madhya Pradesh Police on Wednesday tracked a 17-year-old computer programmer from Tamil Nadu who developed bots for sending bomb threats to several top schools in Bengaluru and Bhopal.

He had created bots for the foreigner and in return received $200 in Bitcoins. These bots were later used to operate multiple email ids by the unidentified client.

Police suspect that the person who bought the bots from the 17-year-old programmer was behind the threats sent through emails to several schools.

While identical emails were sent to the Bengaluru schools in April, similar emails were sent to eleven prominent schools in Bhopal in May using the bots developed to operate multiple email ids.

DCP Kumar said that police are now trying to hunt the person who was behind sending the emails to schools after purchasing the bots.
