SHIV SENA LEADER SUDHIR SURI SHOT DEAD

According to the police, thea leader of the Shiv Sena, Sudhir Suri, was fatally shot on Friday in Amritsar, Punjab, by unidentified assailants.

"Sudhir Suri was shot outside Gopal Mandir, Amritsar during some agitation. He sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital and died. The accused has been arrested. His weapons are recovered," Arun Pal Singh, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar said.

Suri and a few other party leaders were reportedly protesting outside Gopal Mandir on Majitha Road, one of the busiest routes in the city, at the time of the incident, according to police sources.

According to the police, Suri was shot more than five times before he passed out and fell to the ground. He allegedly died from gunshot wounds after being taken to a hospital, according to their claims.

According to police, the accused has been taken into custody and the crime-scene weapon has been seized.

Ashwani Sharma, the President of the Punjab BJP, responded to the incident by stating that the state's law and order situation had entirely collapsed.

Suri was allegedly on several gangsters' hit lists for a very long time. By attaching about eight Punjab Police officers to him, the government gave him security.
