On Wednesday, all nine Congress MLAs from Odisha have been summoned to the national capital for a meeting with party leaders.

Taraprasad Bahinipati, a senior Congress leader, predicted that the MLAs will be in Delhi by Tuesday night.

When asked about the meeting’s agenda, Bahinipati, who is also the Jeypore MLA, said the party’s election strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the issue of party leader Rahul Gandhi being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper could come up.

“The AICC secretary requested that I inform all legislators that they must arrive in Delhi by 6 p.m. today.” Mr Bahinipati believes the ED summons filed on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi are a ploy to instil terror among Congress volunteers and supporters.

The state’s leading party leaders had previously been summoned to Delhi, where newly appointed OPCC president Sarat Pattnayak and others are taking part in an agitation against the BJP-led central government’s alleged misuse of the ED and CBI.

The party has already begun protests in Odisha and other parts of the country over the issue.

On Tuesday, the investigating agency questioned Rahul Gandhi for the fifth time.
