As part of Manchester United's victory over Everton in a Premier League game on Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo reached another milestone in his remarkable career by scoring his 700th club goal.
Following an exhilarating 3-2 victory over Omonia Nicosia, the Red Devils came into the game with high spirits. Manchester City had just defeated United 6-3 in league play before that. They had varying outcomes, so they were keen to create some uniformity.
In the first few minutes of the game, Manchester United performed effectively as they attempted to control possession and set the tempo.
But five minutes later, Alex Iwobi scored an incredible goal from approximately 25 yards out, dealing them a blow.
At Goodison Park, Alex Iwobi's spectacular goal gave the Toffees the lead after only five minutes. However, Antony's third goal for Man United tied the game in the fifteenth minute, and Ronaldo's first league goal of the season came just before halftime after coming off the bench.
In his two stints with United, he scored 144 goals in total. In addition, he scored five goals for Sporting, 101 for Juventus, and 450 for Real Madrid.
"It is tough still counting goals for Ronaldo because every week seems like a new record," fellow Portugal international Bruno Fernandes told BT Sport. "I am really happy because he has been working hard to get this goal. Today he got the goal and the win and that is the most important for him, that the team won” he added.
