Neeraj Chopra created history on Sunday by winning the gold medal in the men's javelin throw final at the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. His throw of 88.17 meters was the best of the day and helped him to finish ahead of Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem (87.82m) and Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch (86.67m). This is India's first gold medal at the World Athletics Championships.

Chopra, who is the Olympic champion in javelin throw, had a slow start to the final, but he came up with a huge throw in his second attempt to take the lead. He held on to the lead for the rest of the competition, and he sealed the gold medal with his final throw.

Chopra's victory is a major breakthrough for Indian athletics. He is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships, and he is the second Indian athlete to win an individual gold medal at a major global athletics event, after Milkha Singh's victory in the 400 meters at the 1960 Olympics.

Parul Chaudhary also made history at the World Athletics Championships. She broke the national record in the women's 3000m steeplechase final, finishing fifth with a time of 9:18.09. This is the first time an Indian woman has broken the 9:20 barrier. Chaudhary's performance also qualified her for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

The Indian athletics team has had a very successful World Championships. Chopra and Chaudhary are just two of the many Indian athletes who have made their mark in Budapest. Avinash Sable finished fourth in the men's 3000m steeplechase, while Murali Sreeshankar finished seventh in the men's long jump.

The Indian athletics team is well-positioned to win medals at the Paris Olympics in 2024. With athletes like Chopra, Chaudhary, and Sable leading the way, India is poised for a golden future in athletics.
