OVAL TO HOST ICC WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 FINAL FROM JUNE 7

ICC chief executive Geoff Allardyce said he was pleased to secure two traditional venues for the next two cycles. Allardyce said, " We are delighted to host the ICC World Test Championship final at the Oval next year. 

There is such a rich legacy and an amazing Atmosphere, ideal for such an important match. After that we will take the final Lord's in 2025 which will provide the perfect backdrop for the final Test."           

'Last year's final between New Zealand and India in Southampton was a fascinating contest and I am sure fans around the world will be looking forward to the next WTC final at The Oval. On behalf of the ICC, I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club and Marylebone Cricket Club for their support, " he added. Surrey County Cricket Club CEO Steve Elworthy said, ": It's a real honor that The Oval has been chosen to host the World Test Championship final. 

With two of the best teams in the World playing here in South London, it will be a great occasion. Next year promises to be great summer of cricket at the Oval and this match will be a highlight of that."                         

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Chief Executive and Secretary Guy Lavender said , "We are delighted that Lord's host the next two finals in London. Both grounds provide the perfect venue for the championship."           

​The dates for both the 2023 and 2025 ICC World Test Championship finals will be confirmed in due course. England were named hosts of the next two WTC finals at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Birmingham in July.
