At the National Games 2022 in Gujarat on Wednesday, Sajan Prakash overcame an abdominal pain to win the gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly with a new meet record.

Olympian Sajan Prakash of Kerala won the gold medal in the final, clocking at 1:59.56, breaking his own personal record from the previous Kerala National Games.

Following the men's 100m butterfly, this is Sajan Prakash's second gold medal at the National Games 2022.

At the Sardar Patel Aquatics Complex in this location, Hashika Ramachandra anchored the Karnataka 4x200m freestyle relay team to victory for the fourth time in this edition, but it was her incredible victory in the 200m butterfly final that lit up the venue.

Ramachandra used all of her energy reserves to slip past Astha Choudhury and touch the wall in 2 minutes, 19.12 seconds. This was her third National Games record in four days, including one she set while competing on a relay team.

The women's 10m platform event was won by Hrutika Shriram, keeping her on track to complete the golden hat-trick once more. Although she admittedly wasn't at her best, she performed her dives well enough to win her 10th gold medal in four National Games editions and her second gold in three days.

It appeared for a time that Gujarat would unexpectedly win the gold in the pool. Aryan Nehra and Anshul Kothari were fielded for the first two legs of the 4x200m Freestyle, and it worked out well, giving the home fans hope. S Siva and Aneesh S Gowda from Karnataka, however, had too much strength in the next two to win by a comfortable margin.

Zeel Desai, a promising tennis player from Gujarat, helped the state in retaining the women's singles gold in Ankita Raina's absence at the Riverfront Sports Development complex in Ahmedabad. Sharmada Balu of Karnataka was losing 6-2, 3-2 to third-seeded Zeel Desai when she suffered an ankle injury and had to quit.

Arjun Kadhe of Maharashtra suffered from rib pain and physical discomfort after winning the first set, which helped Tamil Nadu's Manish Sureshkumar. After taking a medical break in the second set, he was unable to resume play at the same pace, and Manish Sureshkumar seized the chance to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Sunayna Kuruvilla of Tamil Nadu made a stunning comeback to win the women's singles gold medal. The first two games were won by Maharashtra's Urvashi Joshi by scores of 11-9 and 11-7, but Sunayna rediscovered her rhythm and changed the outcome of the match. She won three games while giving up just 13 points to easily claim the victory.

At the Kensville Golf and Country Club near Ahmedabad, the men's singles competition came to an end when Assamese Sunil Bahadur defeated Jharkhand's Soumen Banerjee 16-9. The team of Navneet Singh, Ayush Bharadwaj, Apurv Ashutosh Sharma, and Abhishek Chug defeated West Bengal, 15-14, in the Fours final.

While Manu Kumari Pal, Jaya, and Pinki shocked Jharkhand's Sarita Tirkey, Anamika Lakra, and Kavita Kumari to win the Triples gold, Tania Choudhary and Nayanmoni Saikia of Assam defeated Lovely Choubey and Rupa Rani Tirkey of Jharkhand 17-10.
