T20 WORLD CUP 2022: PM MODI’S ‘SPECIAL MENTION’ OF VIRAT KOHLI AFTER A THRILLING WIN AGAINST PAKISTAN

The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan ended in an exciting victory for India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Virat Kohli for his "amazing innings" on Sunday.

Virat Kohli scored an undefeated 82 runs as India overcame Pakistan by four wickets in a nail-biting last-ball match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was one of the most memorable efforts in the archives of the T20 World Cup. Throughout the 160-run chase, Kohli's team was in difficulty, but he first acted as an anchor, then he took on the responsibility of hitting the big shots, and in the end, it was his class that enabled India to defeat Pakistan.

“The India team bags a well-fought victory! Congratulations on an outstanding performance today. A special mention to @imVkohli for a spectacular inning in which he demonstrated remarkable tenacity. Best wishes for the games ahead,” Modi tweeted.

India was pushed to 31/4 in less than seven overs while chasing 160. After that, Kohli and Hardik Pandya put together a 113-run partnership as they began to rebuild the game. Kohli scored 82 off 53 balls while remaining undefeated, hitting six fours and four sixes, to lead his team to a four-wicket victory after Pandya was bowled for 40.

India recovered from being in trouble at 31/4 at one point because of the two's 113-run fourth-wicket stand. Iftikhar Ahmed's 34-ball 51 and Shan Masood's unbroken 52 from 42 balls helped Pakistan, who were sent in to bat after they lost their first two wickets with only 15 runs scored in the fourth over.

KL Rahul's difficulties against the fast speed and his obvious lack of footwork, as well as Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav being dismissed easily, disrupting the rhythm that Pandya and Arshdeep established by holding Pakistan to 159 for 8.

With numbers of 3/32 in four overs at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground, Arshdeep Singh was one of India's most effective bowlers in the much-anticipated encounter of the tournament.
