India condemns terror attack on students at education center in Kabul

India has condemned Friday's terror attack on the Kaaj Educational Centre of Afghanistan's capital Kabul. The terror attack has caused injury and death to more than 60 people, many of who were students.


There have been many recent attacks against civilian infrastructure and civilians in many areas of Afghanistan, which also include religious minority communities.


External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted and expressed his grief about the terror attack at Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul's Kaaj Educational Center and extended his condolences to the victims' families. He said that India strongly commends the continuous targeting of innocent students at educational places. 


Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General deplored the heinous terror attack on the predominantly Hazara Shia area that caused many casualties. He paid his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those who have been injured. He also asserted that education being a fundamental right and an important driver of peace and development.


The UN Security Council also condemned the terrorist attack are said that all forms and manifestations of terrorism are the most serious threat to international security and peace. The Security Council members highlighted the need to hold organizers, financiers, perpetrators and sponsors of these reprehensible terrorist acts as accountable and bring them to justice.


US Charge d'Affaires Karen Decker also condemned the barbarous attack and said that every student should be able to attain education without any fear. 


The series of terror blasts occurred as Taliban accomplished one year of its rule over Afghanistan after the ouster of the US-based civilian government. According to rights groups, Taliban has broken many pledges taken to respect women and human rights.
