New Delhi, May 19,2025:The US Embassy in India has issued a stark alert to Indian nationals traveling on visas. In a recent social media post of “X”, the embassy warned that a brief overstay can lead to deportation and a permanent ban from re-entering the country.

The Embassy wrote on twitter , “If you remain in the United States beyond your authorised period of stay , you could be deported and face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future”.

This warning comes as part of a broader immigration crackdown under President Donald Trump's administration.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has also emphasised that having a valid visa or green card is no guarantee against deportation, especially for individuals who are engage in activities that threaten national security or public safety.

The Trump administration has been taking a hardline stance on immigration, with measures including national emergencies, increased deportation flights, and reforms to the H-1B visa program. They emphasised that Indian nationals traveling to the US on tourist, student, or work visas are being urged to comply with their visa terms and US laws to avoid severe consequences.
