AI for Aid, Not Domination: LG Sinha’s Vision
In a thought-provoking statement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the need to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education with caution. Speaking at an education summit in Jammu, he called for a balanced approach, stressing that AI should act as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for teachers.
"Technology must serve as an enabler, not a disruptor. Educators are the soul of any learning environment, and their role can never be undermined," said Sinha. He highlighted that AI could revolutionize access to resources and personalized learning but warned against letting technology overshadow the human touch essential for holistic education.
His comments come amidst a global debate on the increasing reliance on AI in various fields, including education. While AI tools like chatbots and virtual assistants are being integrated into classrooms, concerns persist about their potential to dilute the teacher-student relationship.
Sinha also shed light on the necessity of equipping educators with AI training, ensuring they can leverage technology effectively. "We must empower our teachers to use AI as a tool for innovation and creativity, not as a replacement," he remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor's words struck a chord with educators present, many of whom echoed similar sentiments. They stressed the irreplaceable value of emotional intelligence and mentorship that teachers provide—qualities no machine can replicate.
As the education sector grapples with the challenges of integrating AI, Sinha’s vision serves as a reminder: technology should enhance, not overshadow, the human essence of learning.
