Earlier, seven Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in Delhi were caught by the police. These men were picked up at Peeragarhi Camp in Outer District and had set their eyes on the "Danki Route" to make it into Europe illegally. The action was conducted as part of an all-round operation by Delhi Police against international smuggling and illegal immigration.
In another incident, four Bangladeshi immigrants were taken into custody from Bawana and Mahipalpur. They were a 72-year-old man, Mustaq, and his sons Shahid Khan and Mintu, both property dealers.
They had been residing in Delhi for more than two decades by producing counterfeit documents. Md Monto was also apprehended from Mahipalpur after he could not present valid documents, confessing to having come to India 15 years ago.
In a separate incident, five Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed for pretending to be transgenders and begging.
They had done face-altering surgeries and hormone injections to cover themselves up and were part of a network in Bangladesh through the banned IMO app. The arrests reveal the constant face of illegal immigration and identity fraud in Delhi.
