The trailer of Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan starrer 'Kesari: Chapter 2' was launched in the capital on Thursday during a star-studded event. During the event, there was a question raised over the usage of the word "f*ck you"** by Akshay Kumar in one of the scenes of the film, for which the actor clarified that the term was even more derogatory than this word for the British to address Indians as "slaves".
In the press conference, he remarked, "Yes, I did use that word. But when the British said, 'You are still a slave!', wasn't that insulting? In my view, there can be no greater insult than that. Instead, you should have listened to that."
He also stated, "If we had acted more strictly against them at that time, it would not have been sufficient."
Historical setting
Ananya Panday, Karan Johar, Apurva Mehta, Amritpal Bindra and Karan Singh Tyagi, director, were present at the launch of the trailer.
The hosts included the relatives of C. Sankaran Nair, who was a fearless lawyer and battled in court against British rule in order to get justice for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
As per the trailer, the movie will depict the story of the events that followed the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the court fights that ensued around that period. Akshay Kumar, in the character of Sankaran Nair, will take on the British Empire in court, whereas R. Madhavan, in the character of lawyer Neville McKinley, will represent the British.
