No casualties reported as the army rubbished media reports of a terrorist attack in Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir. Some outlets had claimed that Army personnel had sustained injuries or had been killed in firing from the terrorists. The army confirmed that no such incident took place.
"We entirely refute reports of a terror attack in Akhnoor causing casualties. There was just one attempt to spread misinformation," said an army spokesperson. He also clarified that the area is fully secured, and things are under control.
Releasing false reports like these can cause uncalled-for panic among the masses and also hamper security operations. The army has requested the people not to believe in rumors and respect only official sources for genuine information.
Jammu & Kashmir has for long remained the target of terrorism; however, in more recent years, operations by the military have reduced operations to a reasonable minimum. Sources indicate that the government might take strict action against those spreading these baseless rumors regarding the Akhnoor incident.
