Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly posted a photo of Sunny Leone on social media, along with a “watching” emoji and a picture of a narrow lane. Though fans were initially confused, the meaning soon became clear: the post was related to the upcoming IPL auction.
The IPL auction will be held on December 16 in the UAE. This year, 77 slots are available, including 31 for overseas players, with a total of 350 cricketers in the pool from 14 countries. Among the Indian players listed, Ashwin was hinting at one in particular.
He used Sunny Leone’s photo to represent the word “Sunny,” and posted a picture of a lane called “Sandhu” in Tamil. Together, the clue pointed to Sunny Sandhu, a Tamil Nadu all-rounder listed in the auction with a base price of ₹40 lakh. He recently made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which Ashwin seemed to remind fans of.
This isn’t the first time Ashwin has dropped riddles online. When Andre Russell retired to become KKR’s power coach, he made a similar post. He also once used photos of Aaqib Javed and Mohammad Nabi to hint at J&K pacer Aqib Nabi.
