Asia Cup Trophy Mystery Deepens

Senior Asia Cup’s trophy was ‘taken away’ and the drama hasn’t stopped since. India defeated Pakistan to become Asia Cup champions at the end of October, yet nearly two months later the trophy saga continues. Now it has emerged that the ACC headquarters is practically empty, with no trophy in sight. The big question: where did Mohsin Naqvi disappear with it?

A national news outlet recently visited the Asian Cricket Council’s headquarters in Dubai and discovered surprising details. Their reporters were initially denied entry for nearly an hour. Once allowed in, they had a “shocking” experience.

The office was deserted. Chairs were scattered across the main conference room, and a few disorganized files sat on a table. Nothing more. This comes after ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi had earlier issued warnings and conditions to India on returning the trophy. Now, he appears to have removed the trophy entirely from the ACC office.

Earlier reports suggested Naqvi had agreed to hand the trophy over to India, but that now seems to have been just an empty promise. According to an ANI report, a BCCI official who recently visited the ACC office was told the trophy wasn’t there it had been moved somewhere in Abu Dhabi. Its exact location remains unknown. And now, on Sunday, it was confirmed that the ACC office is completely vacant.

Due to political tensions, Indian players, including Suryakumar Yadav, had refused to take the trophy directly from Pakistani minister Naqvi. Till now, the Asia Cup trophy has still not reached India. How long Team India must wait remains unclear.
