Ayodhya is all set to celebrate Deepotsav today, marking the homecoming of Lord Shri Ram, with grand preparations to light over 26 lakh diyas and create a historic spectacle. This year, the festival aims to break previous records with a total of 2,611,101 lamps illuminating Ram Ki Paidi and 56 ghats, drawing devotees and tourists from across India and beyond.
Organised under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deepotsav symbolizes faith, devotion, and unity. More than 10,000 volunteers from universities and colleges are participating, lighting lamps in carefully mapped zones to ensure every diya is counted and placed correctly. The festival has become a defining moment for Ayodhya, reinforcing its identity as a global hub of spirituality and culture.
To officially record the achievement, Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning is overseeing the process. The counting involves QR code scanning for participants entering the venue, while each zone has two stewards ensuring accurate placement and lighting. Any errors, such as unlit diyas, are deducted from the total count, ensuring the record attempt meets rigorous standards.
Volunteers will start arranging the wicks and oil from the morning, with the lamps set to be lit in the evening, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of light. The display not only promises a visual feast but also inspires devotion and a sense of community among the participants.
This Deepotsav is expected to be remembered as a golden chapter in Ayodhya’s history, highlighting both the city’s spiritual heritage and organisational prowess. Millions of lamps and hearts united in devotion are set to illuminate the sacred city like never before.
