BCCI Restructures WPL Committee to Strengthen Women's Cricket.To implement these changes, Rohan Gauns Dessai and Dilsher Khanna have been inducted into the WPL committee. Rohan was recently elected the Honorary Joint Secretary of the BCCI.
Before that, he served as the Secretary of the Goa Cricket Association and was the team manager for India's T20I series in South Africa last year. Dilsher Khanna, on the contrary, is the Secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association and played a major role as a team manager during India's successful-in-campaigns in the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
The newly restructured committee will be headed by BCCI President Roger Binny as the Chairperson. Other important members of the WPL committee will be IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, Honorary Treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia, Honorary Joint Secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, and Madhumati Lele.
The committee would be mainly responsible for overseeing the successful organization and development of the WPL. In a bid to make women's cricket much more competitive and visible, the BCCI has appointed more experienced administrators to the WPL Committee, set to improve the operation and sustainability of the league in the long term. As the league attains more fanfare, these changes further reflect BCCI's resolve to immortalizing WPL's base, elevating it to the status of a global platform for women's cricket.
