Bengali drama "Nishanga Ishwar" has caught everyone's attention by winning awards in five categories at the 2025 Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META).
The drama was honored in a total of five categories, including three important awards - Best Original Screenplay, Best Stage Design and Best Actor (Male) in the lead role. The director and lead actor of the drama, Suman Saha, won these awards himself.
Organized by Mahindra Group and Teamwork Arts, this drama festival began on March 13 and continued for a week and ended with the award distribution ceremony on Thursday.
This drama, which is about one and a half hours long, tells the story of the time after the Kurukshetra War and the death of Balarama, where the last day of Krishna's life is shown.
Chandrani Sarkar won the award in the Best Supporting Character (Female) category in this drama. The drama also won the best in the Best Production category.
On the other hand, Akshay Singh Tagore of the play "Swang: Jas ki Tas" was named the best director and also won the awards for best sound and music design. Abhishek Gautam won the best supporting actor (male) award.
Out of more than 350 plays submitted, 10 plays were nominated for this year's META. Plays in Bengali, English, Hindi, Bundeli, Malayalam and Kannada languages made it to the awards.
