Business Sweden has increased its footprint in India with the opening of a new office in Mumbai on March 18, 2025. This is the organization's third office in India, in addition to its current offices in Delhi and Bangalore.
The expansion is part of Sweden's strategic push into Asia and seeks to tap into India's fast-growing economy.
Mumbai, and India's industrial center of Pune, are major contributors to India's GDP and industry output and represent a prime business location for Business Sweden operations. With almost 300 Swedish businesses already based in India and more than 70 Indian businesses invested in Sweden, the new office is anticipated to strengthen trade and investment relations between the countries.
Jan Larsson, Business Sweden's CEO, pointed out India's significance as Swedish companies' one of the leading three global markets because of its huge potential.
Sofia Högman, Country Director and Trade Secretary for India, pointed to the office's contribution in supporting Swedish companies to explore opportunities across areas like healthcare, infrastructure, green transition, and manufacturing.
This expansion is part of Business Sweden's mission to promote mutual growth through the promotion of Swedish exports to India and Indian investments in Sweden.
The new office will deepen economic cooperation and open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
