Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his pivotal role in brokering the historic Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords signed between Cambodia and Thailand on Sunday.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hun stated the nomination represents "the gratitude of the Cambodian people" for Trump's leadership in achieving lasting peace between the neighboring nations after years of border tensions. "Recognizing your unwavering dedication and resolute efforts to promote peace, not only between Cambodia and Thailand but also among other nations, and reflecting the gratitude of the Cambodian peoples, I have nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize," Hun announced.

"Peace saves lives, and this is the heartfelt wish of our people," he added, emphasizing the human impact of the agreement.

Hun also thanked Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his mediation efforts as ASEAN Chair, calling Malaysia's role "pivotal" in guiding both sides toward a final settlement. Trump attended the signing ceremony alongside Anwar and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, with both Southeast Asian leaders praising the president's personal involvement in encouraging the swift resolution.

The Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords formally end years of sporadic clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border, marking one of the most significant diplomatic achievements under ASEAN leadership in recent years.

Cambodia joins a growing list of nations nominating Trump for the prestigious award. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated him for brokering the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire and his earlier Middle East peace efforts. Pakistan's government also backed his candidacy, citing his role in de-escalating India-Pakistan border tensions a claim New Delhi has denied.

Rwanda recognized Trump's contribution to resolving Central African conflicts, while Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev jointly supported his candidacy after signing a Trump-mediated peace agreement. Malta's Foreign Minister Ian Borg nominated him for peace efforts spanning Gaza to the Caucasus.

In the United States, Representative Anna Paulina Luna formally nominated Trump for diplomatic work in Gaza, Armenia-Azerbaijan, and Congo-Rwanda. Representatives Buddy Carter, Darrell Issa, and Claudia Tenney also supported him, citing his role in the Abraham Accords. The Israeli Hostages Families Forum praised Trump for helping secure hostage releases during Gaza negotiations.

Trump's involvement in multiple international peace processes has generated unprecedented support from diverse nations, positioning him as a leading candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize amid his active diplomatic engagement across global conflict zones.
