Canada’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Evan Solomon, is set to participate in the Global AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi from February 18 to 21, 2026. The summit, being held at Bharat Mandapam, brings together world leaders, policymakers, technology experts, academic researchers, and civil society figures to discuss the future of artificial intelligence and its global implications.
The High Commission of Canada in India confirmed in posts on X that Solomon’s visit aims to deepen AI partnerships between Canada and India, strengthen bilateral collaboration in emerging technologies, and expand economic opportunities for Canadian companies. During his stay, he is expected to meet with senior Indian officials and engage with international stakeholders on AI governance, innovation, and investment.
The summit is the first of its kind to be hosted in the Global South, with participation from more than 110 countries and 30 international organisations, including about 45 ministers and heads of state or government. It is designed to promote a human‑centric approach to AI, emphasising ethical use, equitable benefits, sustainability, and inclusive economic progress worldwide.
Solomon’s participation comes amid a broader international tour focused on building strategic technology alliances and securing investment in Canada’s AI ecosystem. This visit follows his engagements in Germany and Saudi Arabia, where he worked on strengthening global cooperation in AI and digital technologies.
Canada has been actively pursuing international collaboration on AI policy, regulation, and innovation, seeking to balance technological growth with responsible governance. Solomon’s involvement at the summit underscores Ottawa’s interest in shaping global AI dialogues and reinforcing ties with key partners such as India.
The Global AI Impact Summit will run until February 20, with discussions expected to influence future frameworks for AI safety, ethics, and economic development worldwide.
